Thank You to Authors and Reviewers
Two of the most magical words in the English language are “thank you,” as these words convey a sincere appreciation to those addressed for all that they do, in this case, for International Surgery.
As indicated in my most recent Editorial Letter, we are celebrating the 80th Anniversary of the existence of International Surgery! Being a fully functional journal in the global scientific and medical publishing world since 1938 is not only noteworthy, but also remarkable. Eighty years is a testimony to being willing to change as the scientific and medical publishing norms change, to having a high degree of adaptability, and to having an awareness and appreciation for all persons, including authors and reviewers, who contribute to the ongoing success of our scientific and medical journal.
The demands for publishing scientific and medical research results have dramatically increased over recent years. Authors increasingly need to publish and communicate the results of their research efforts, to be seen as global in the academic world. We sincerely thank and express appreciation to all authors who have selected International Surgery for publishing their respective papers. Our goal is to continue to improve the publishing standards of International Surgery. This is the best way for us to truly express our appreciation to all past, current, and future authors who select International Surgery for publishing their research.
The efforts for reviewing submitted manuscripts are dramatically increasing as well. Not only is the rate of submitting new manuscripts increasing, but expectations to conduct each review in a lesser amount of time are increasing as well, and particularly for reviews of open access manuscripts. We are proud of the past and current reviewers for International Surgery and commend them for their significant and conscientious efforts.
International Surgery represents reliability, high quality, and dependability in the scientific and medical publishing world now and in the future. We are thankful for all persons who have contributed, and all who continue to contribute, to the effectiveness of International Surgery in scientific and medical publishing.
As your Editor-in-Chief, I invite your questions and comments.
Sincerely,
Professor Christopher Chen
