Indexing International Surgery

As reported to you in my last editorial letter, I made the decision on May 1, 2017, that effective May 1 and thereafter, only open access (OA) manuscripts will be considered for publishing in International Surgery. Open access publishing provides several excellent indexing alternatives in terms of measuring the impact of International Surgery in the world's scientific and medical research community.

International Surgery is indexed by major sources such as Scopus (Elsevier's database) and Clarivate Analytics (formerly Thomson Reuter) Web of Science. Each of these databases index and disseminate major world scholarly publishing resources. International Surgery content is generally discoverable by the vast number of researchers who search for information because International Surgery is open access.

Indexing is a measurement of the importance and status of a journal. The impact of International Surgery is based on the quality of the current scientific and medical value of manuscripts appearing in International Surgery. Indexing does not directly measure the goals, aspirations, and unremitting dedication and commitment of the editor-in-chief and editorial staff to excellence in scientific and medical publishing. Yet all associated with International Surgery have an unrelenting commitment to excellence in scientific and medical publishing.
