Members of the Editorial Board of Reviewers of International Surgery are members of one of the most important groups in medical publishing. In this issue of International Surgery, we express honest, forthright appreciation for the services that they render to the increasing success of International Surgery and to the authors of manuscripts submitted to our publishing staff for consideration. These members give their valuable time in critiquing and offering suggestions for improvement of submitted manuscripts. Their responsibility to the medical scientific community is immense, and their tutoring and coaching of researchers is of immeasurable value.

Any critique should reflect the wisdom to respect the work performed by a sincere, devoted author(s), and, if advisable, to encourage any applicable improvements, yet, in making suggestions for improvements, not destroy the motivation and confidence of the author(s). In this sense, it is a “very fine line that our reviewers walk,” and they do it with unvarying dedication.

We honor and thank these members of International Surgery for their very special services, which serve as a mainstay for the onward and upward success of our journal.
